General Discussion / Re: Transfered

A few people have contacted me personally telling me that they'll be back before Monday. Others have not, I'll do some trimming.

General Discussion / Re: HoD war chest
« on: December 23, 2012, 01:48:28 PM »
So I've thought about this, and if you'll notice, the permissions on [HoD] are such that no one but myself is able to withdraw or deposit anything into the guild stashes or banks. The reason I did this was to avoid potential drama. I didn't want anyone depositing money or items only to have them taken away by someone and used on something deemed unnecessary.

That said, keeps and towers are a money sink to upgrade. Siege is also a money sink. I usually stay away from upgrades but I probably spend around about 5g a week (on top of my badge stock) on siege in order to keep things moving. Whereas it's nice to assume that everyone will contribute to some degree, ultimately this doesn't usually happen and can't be expected.

I'm not totally against setting up a fund of some sort, but we'd really need to nail down an agreement on who contributes, who can use it, and for what beforehand.

Setup and Planning / Training Schedule
« on: December 21, 2012, 01:51:24 PM »
One of the first things I'd like to set up with [HoD] is a training schedule. I've already run 2 training sessions at the request of CV. I'm looking to move forward with training for a couple reasons. First, with our limited numbers, it's important that each player be as effective as possible. Second, with a frequent training schedule we can show a strong community and help keep new WvWers on the server. What I'm looking for in this thread is either suggestions for further training, or volunteers for future sessions. Once we settle on some we can schedule, advertise and move forward appropriately.

Training Sessions Run So Far:
WvW Basics
Offensive and Defensive Siege Placement

Suggestions:
Building upgrades and using supply effectively
Class-Specific WvW help

Setup and Planning / Guild Signup
« on: December 20, 2012, 07:26:38 PM »
Hello All. We're going ahead and launching HoD for a preliminary trial of how well it works out.

Is your guild interested in WvW? Do you want to be part of the coordinating effort that is HoD? I've laid out the benefits we hope to see in anothe thread (Original proposal here: http://www.hengeofdenravi.com/index.php/topic,587.0.html). In short we're hoping to improve coordination, facilitate central training, and help keep new members on the HoD server.

In short, there are 3 ways you can be a part. (A) Allow your guild members to rep HoD while in WvW. (B) Allow a guild representative to rep HoD while in WvW, and relay the information back to your team (C) Join but not rep the guild. Whatever comfort level your guild has participating, we hope that some improved coordination level will come about from all this.

I just need to know a few things.

How do you want to participate (If through a rep, their name):

Setup and Planning / Outstanding Issues from the Other Thread
« on: December 18, 2012, 09:14:01 AM »
I'm just using this thread to make a list of the issues people brought up from the other thread and my proposed solutions to them. Hopefully these will be amenable to everyone. Comments are appreciated.

Who's in Charge
Since this isn't a real guild there isn't a guild leader, persay. Whereas my preference is for some sort of group to manage it, Talia points out that "too many cooks spoil the broth" and a lot of us are unsure of our relationships with each other. With that in mind, it may be best to just have one or two persons administrate, and have a whole swath of "officers" from the participating guilds to manage getting new players placed properly.

Discipline and Problem Players
I think it's obvious enough that there'd need to be a zero tolerance on things like scamming, exploiting, verbal abuse, etc...
Again, as every member would have an initial guild, I'd rather have any problem players dealt with by their own guild. Players would preferably only get kicked if they acted outright problematically or if they stopped representing Denravi as a server.

As this isn't a "guild" the removal of problem players, I would think, would require much less formality. Even something as simple as "You're being abusive, we've removed you from HoD at this point. Once your GL assures us all is well you'll be let back in" I imagine, would be effective in 99% of cases.

Relationship With Existing Guilds
It's clear there's a divide on how people would want to interact with this body. I think ultimately it's up to existing guilds to set their own relationship here. What's important is that there should be a lot of wiggle room. This is meant as a service to the server, not some sort of bureaucratic disaster. If that means some sort of two-tier structure where some guilds allow members to represent in WvW, while others have only one delegate representing, than I still think that system works better than none at all.
